Pain & Gain: first trailer

Trailer Ryan Lambie 19 Dec 2012 - 19:46

Michael Bay returns with the thriller Pain & Gain, starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson. Here's the first trailer...

Michael Bay may be best known for his city-wide destruction and explosions, but he appears to be trying something a little different with Pain & Gain, the director's equivalent of a passion project. It's about a group of bodybuilders - among them Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie - who plan to rob a sum of money and spend the lot on fast cars and protein shakes.

Amusingly, Bay's relatively small-scale movie is still full of swooping cameras, slow-motion, blazing suns and cool guys not looking back at an explosion. There's no doubt that he's assembled a great cast for this one, though (Anthony Mackie's a great upcoming actor, as far as we're concerned), and we're intrigued to see what Bay can do with a story that takes him back to the slick comedy thriller territory of Bad Boys, as opposed to the robot-hastened disaster of the Transformers franchise.

Pain & Gain opens in UK cinemas on the 3rd May 2013.

DAFUQ did I just watch?

Hurrrrnnngggggghh!

Or something.

hmmmm ok,

The first 2 lines of this trailer are, "I'm hot! I'm big!"

This will be poor.

I have no idea what this film is meant to be?

Is it meant to be taken seriously? Is it meant to be funny? Because I thought it looked awful until that one last line at the end made me chuckle, "When this is all over, we'll go camping".

Yeah at the start I thought it was an action movie, then toward the end I thought it was a comedy - either way it was a brave man who went into the movie studio and pitched this idea....!

I don't think I quite got the trailer, is this a true story?

Thank the Lord that there wasn't even a glimpse of Yolanthe Cabau-Sneijder in this trailer. Seriously internet, perpare yourself for some terrible acting. Beyond that, in what genre does this movie fit in?

that was painful to watch....bring back the robots

I like the way Wahlberg has brought back his whiney accent from The Happening. As if it wasn't terrible enough the first time.

best opening lines of any trailer ive ever seen sorry
