Joining the returning cast for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be Mr Martin Sheen, he's confirmed...

This article contains The Amazing Spider-Man spoilers.

Ever since The Amazing Spider-Man proved to be a success and the sequel was announced we've had a fairly steady stream of casting rumours for the villain and other key characters (Jamie Foxx is set to play Electro in Marc Webb's follow up). Now, we've got the news that Martin Sheen is set to join the returning cast for the next movie.

“Well they called me back", he told RTE. "I don't know what the part's going to be but I'm going to be Uncle Ben once again in Spider-Man next year. We shoot in February".

Sheen was excellent in the role, but there was the small matter of the death of his character that we'd figured might have hindered his return. This can go one of only two ways: he'll either appear in flashback, or as some kind of zombie. We'll have to wait and see.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release on April 18th 2014.

Great news. His dentures really stole the show in the first one.

He's back?

Hmmm... must be going down the 'Marvel Zombies' route.

He was very good in the role. I'd like to see how they use the flashbacks.

Uncle Ben-Bot.

Must be either the Chamelion or Mysterio

The Less-than-Amazing Spiderman was nothing!
He was only actually Spiderman for all of 20 mins!... And 5 of those were THE WORST 'Go Spidey! Go!' moment ever... Cranes?!... C'mon!

I bet Toby Maguire will be reeaalll angry cause THAT was the Spiderman he wanted to play in the Sam Raimi films..

This reboot was a complete cashcow, they had a god damn romance director who hadn't actually had any film under his name... Wow...
Well done for exploiting Spidey Sony, well done..

You mean he hadn't had any comic book or action movie to his name, surely? Cos he did have a film to his name, (500) Days of Summer....

Spider-man... s***; I'm still only in Spider-man... Every time I think I'm gonna wake up back in the jungle.

Ok... that's the only point you can pull me up on... (why bother?)

That still doesn't take away from the fact that they got a ROMANCE(1*) director to do an unnecessary Spidey reboot?!

(1*) See: (500) Days of Summer

Stop bitching. Marc webb was great

No, he was not.

Peter Parker didn't even have table manners!!

PS sorry for vote down, accident.... Even though your statement is incorrect.
