Katee Sackhoff provides an update on the all female Expendables

Katee Sackhoff as Captain Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace

One of the first female action stars attached to the project has been expressing her excitement about how things are shaping up.

Katee Sackhoff, star of Battlestar Galactica, is one of a few actresses who is already attached to Adi Shankar's all female version of The Expendables. Details have been few on the ground of late, but she's now been talking about the film in a recent interview with the fine folks at Collider.

Here's what she had to say:

“Well, I am attached to it, but things always happen. If a script got delivered and was absolutely horrible, then you figure things out. But, I can't imagine, with everyone that Adi Shankar is bringing around the project, that it's going to be bad.”

She continued; “I really put a lot of faith in him for his eye to detail, I'm a big fan of Gina (Carano) and there's a lot of strong women. When I sat down with Adi and he pitched the women that he wanted in the movie these are not your five foot two skinny girls. These are the girls that can actually kick some ass, which made me excited. And they are different types of girls. I haven't seen the Expendables movies, but not every one of us has the same fighting style and we're all different body types. It's believable that we could all kick some ass. I'm really looking forward to it.”

It sounds then like things are shaping up quite nicely. We'll pass on more details on the project when it becomes available.

Milla Jovovich, Scarlett Johansson please!

Lucy Lawless still looks fantastic and I could see her being really good in this.

Something about "Expenda-belles", feels really cynical to me. It's like, "Hey, Expendables made money right? let's do it again, only this time with boobs!"

Also: Who exactly are they going to get for this that can match the Box Office/nostalgia draw of the Expendables cast?

Gina Carano? Yeah, geeks like to talk her up but in the real world nobody knows who she is! And, as much as I love Sackhoff, the same goes for her...

Kathleen Turner, Kirsty Alley, Bridget Nielson, Jamie Lee Curtis and Whoopi Goldberg with Miniguns - now that's a movie!

(note I decided against using the big bazookas joke on purpose...!)

LOL! Man, female-expendables or not, a decent Whoopi Goldberg with miniguns movie is long overdue. I can hear the trailer now:

But she's a Cylon....

For starters: Cynthia Rothrock, Sigourney Weaver, Geena Davis, Michelle Yeoh, Uma Thurman, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rose Mcgowan, Lynda Carter, Heather Locklear, Pam Grier, Sharon Stone, Grace Jones, Kate Beckinsale, Carrie Ann Moss, Linda Hamilton, Rene Russo, Bridget Fonda, Anne Parillaud, Demi Moore.

And forgot - the ultimate movie lady hardcase (well, in Aliens at least) Jenette Goldstein

Weaver and Hamilton are the only ones who really deserve to be on that list.

I dont mean this in a cruel way but most of those actresses are has-beens and never-really-were's.

And, with a few exceptions, pretty much none of them have ever been what you would call Box-Office Draws... Especially when compared to the core of The Expendables cast.

Expendables: Schwarzeneggar, Stallone, Willis.
Expandabelles: Rothrock, Locklear and, er, Lynda Carter.

It doesn't really compare, does it?

Katee Sackhoff? Who the hell?!? Just goes to show how different this will be to The Expendables. Rather than look to the past for older action stars they go for young actresses nobody has heard of!

VERY shallow, yeah. But that's mainstream Hollywood for you.

I would also say that in the Expendables' case, surely the entire point is to get as many famous actors onscreen at once.
The "Wow, Rambo and the Terminator just blew the crap outta that hovercraft and John mcClane highfived them for it!" factor. LOL

True - But Ripley, Sarah Connor, Vasquez, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, May Day, Trinity, Wonder Woman, The Bride, Catherine Trammel, Nikita, G.I. Jane, China O'Brien, Selene, Jackie Brown and Charley Baltimore all on screen at once would be one hell of a team up too...

Oh and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio - currently fighting monsters in Grimm!

In another life she had a kick arse sword and a chakram.

Oh the poor widdle boys all whining "nobody's heard of these chicks". Sorry lads there's a world of action chicks outside your ken.

If Angelina Jolie isn't in it then it shouldn't happen!

Throw in Linda Hamilton, Sigourney Weaver and Demi Moore for the perfect line up.

There certainly is, sadly from what I've read none are appearing in this movie! Expendables was about bringing older iconic action stars together. The female version is not doing this.

No it doesn't. & it demonstrates the problem hollywood still has with women

An all girl expendables who would you pick? my list so far katee sackhoff jessica alba michelle rodriguez milla jovovich have to have aliens sigourney weaver an underworlds kate beckinsale an syfy fav summer glue :)

Angie does'nt play well with other female stars very well sadly! But linda hamiltons an weavers a must have !

I guess you dont like alien terminator resident evil or tomb raider films then

Cynthia rothrock i forgot about the female chuck noris great !

Oh how silly!

So men finally have one lousy movie without a token "togh chick", and suddenly we must "restore balance in the force" by having a female version?

I like Alien I Like Terminator but I loathe Resident Evil & Tomb Raider.

You win the thread, sir.

What are you talking about? I didn't hear Sigourney Weaver was attached to this project.

but i think angelina would be interested in playing the villain. i remember reading some years ago that she was approached to play a good bond girl but wasn't interested because she only had interest to play the villain as they are the most exciting roles.

personally i would cast her in the film as a chief terrorist and have her killed off. angelina's action films salt, mr and mrs smith, wanted, tomb raider, have all been box office success so she would help draw in her audience for this film and deliver box office success.

i asked Pam Grier on twitter whether she would say yes if approached to join the cast and replied yes. Personally i loved her blaxploitation films and she would be amazing.
For the Lady Expendables ----->> i'd have Linda Hamilton, Sigourney Weaver, Milla Jovovich, Katee Sackhoff, Gina Carano, and then either Michelle Yeoh or Lucy Lui. With a cameo from Pam Grier.

I would preferably like Angelina Jolie as the villain with a squad including Grace Jones, Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Rothrock, Gina Torres.

BUT if Angelina cant make the film i say get a villain team up of DEMI MOORE and MICHELLE PHEIFFER (bad ass catwoman).

Then in the sequel i'd bring in zoe saldana, uma thurman, geena davis. Remember if this is the first film it needs to be exciting and nostalgic and the average modern day actresses should not be involved until the sequels.
