Kevin Costner to star in new McG action thriller
Directed by McG, penned by Luc Besson, Kevin Costner's next film sees him up agai
Kevin Costner is an actor whose work we have a lot of time for around these parts. It's probably best we direct you to this article as a primer on our thoughts about the man. And our list of his top ten films, here.
Currently attached to Jack Ryan, and then to Without Remorse, Costner has now picked his next project, taking the lead role in McG-directed action thriller written by Luc Besson. The movie in question, thus far unnamed, will be backed by EuropaCorp and Relativity Media, the former of which are releasing Taken 2.
Appreciating that the name McG is one that hardly fills the hearts of geeks with joy, there is still the Costner factor here, and the fact that movies written by Luc Besson tend to have a sense of urgency that his directed efforts lack (and we say that loving lots of films he's directed). The premise of this new movie sounds solid also. It focuses on Secret Service Agent Ethan Runner (Costner) who discovers that he's dying so decides to retire from the service to spend time with his family. That is until he's offered an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last job. So has to juggle his family commitments, his mission and the fact that the drug causes hallucinations.
