Paranormal Activity 4: new trailer

Trailer Ryan Lambie 27 Sep 2012 - 11:05

Prepare to quake in terror: it's the new trailer for Paranormal Activity 4...

"Katie and Hunter's whereabouts remain unknown. Until now..."

We're now up to our third sequel in the Paranormal Activity series, which has long found plenty of mileage in quietly creepy things occurring in ordinary American homes. Paranormal Activity 4, out this October, doesn't appear to do much to alter the franchise's mix of stuff going bump in the dark, household objects falling abruptly to the ground, and haunted faces peering down the camera's lens, but it all looks entertainingly creepy, we have to say.

Having successfully terrified us with a Teddy Ruxpin doll in the 80s-set Paranormal Activity 3, directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost are back for the fourth film, which brings the series back to the 21st century with lots of laptops, webcams and flat-screen tellies.

Paranormal Activity 4 will haunt UK cinemas from the 17th October. Brr.

Meh

urgh, do something new already! They've totally destroyed the potential of this franchise

I'm surprised that people don't seem to speak well of this series now. I think these and Blair Witch are the best of all the found footage films. I also think this series is one of the very best of the entire horror/supernatural genre. It did lose a bit of momentum with number three, however.
Still, I have to question the people who say that this stye of film is getting old. Well, I'd say the "normal" way of shooting a film has gotten significantly older...

I second the 'Meh'!

The first one was ok, the second I found myself looking at my watch, number 3 was just the same old tripe. I hope they've changed the formula around, instead of 80 minutes of waffle and shots of people sleeping, doing housework and itching their collective ball bags, 8 minutes of things moving and doors slamming predictably and two minutes of actual spooky stuff at the end.

I think the point they're making is that the scope of a found footage horror film doesn't seem to be expanding.

paranormal activity trailers are crap cause nearly 90% of whats in them is never in the film

Blair witch was great (the web campaign helped enormously) Paranormal Activity was a missed opportunity at best..

The first one scared the crap out of me. However, the second was a yawn and the third I watched on Netflix on fast forward one day when I was bored. Why? Because suspense is only suspenseful when you don't know what is going to happen. All three movies are the same. Nothing new happens. it was only scary once. I never thought I'd say this, but I HOPE PART FOUR USED SOME CGI. That's right: I hope a giant CGI Mothra jumps out and punches Dracula in the face! Anything! I will wait for this on Neflix and watch in in fast forward until the last two minutes. Thes movies are bland. Bland. Bland. Bland.

No. Blair Witch was great and Paranormal Activity is great. You were right when you said Blair Witch was great, but wrong when you said Paranormal Activity was a missed opportunity. What is actually the case is that Blair Witch is great and Paranormal Activity is great. So you were right about the first part, but not about the second part, as they are both great. Or, as I once said on the matter:
"No. Blair Witch was great and Paranormal Activity is great. You were right when you said Blair Witch was great, but wrong when you said Paranormal Activity was a missed opportunity. What is actually the case is that Blair Witch is great and Paranormal Activity is great. So you were right about the first part, but not about the second part, as they are both great."

No, perhaps not. But then, is the scope of the haunted house movie, or a torture porn film, expanding? There's only so far you can go under this conceit.

Whoever down-rated my post above is a poo with a beak, and I am frozen wee (which is not as bad).

Don't get me wrong, PA did give me some goose bumps but hand on heart tell me the ending had the equal pay off as Blair Witch? (I thought it was daft (made dafter by the crap sequels) whereas BW stayed with me for days)
