Transformers 3 update

Another Transformers movie gets green lit, but it’s going to need some different writers…
Published on Mar 26, 2009
It's now been confirmed that, in advance of Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen heading into cinemas this summer, that a third film in the franchise has been given the official green light. It's, granted, hardly the most earth shattering announcement, but Transformers 3 will be arriving in cinemas on July 1st 2011.
There's likely to be a change in personnel this time, though. It's been revealed that writers Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman will not be getting their word processors out this time, and have passed on penning the third film. The pair had worked on the first two films, but declined the opportunity to write the third, for fear of becoming "stale and comfortable".
This leaves Paramount with a slight challenge. Ehren Kruger was brought in to help pen the second movie, so he's a potential. But given the speedy turnaround the studio needs to get such a complicated production completed in two years flat, things need to move into action soon. It's unclear right now, incidentally, if Michael Bay is coming back either.
In the meantime, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen arrives on 24th June 2009.
