With The Expendables 2 about to his cinemas, the film's producer talks of his targets for the third instalment.

The Expendables 2 is finally almost with us, and as a consqeuence, promotional work for the cast and crew is also well underway. In a recent interview, producer Avi Lerner revealed that they already have Nic Cage on board to showcase his unique stylings, and here's what else he had to say to Total Film about the other big names on his wish-list:

“We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play one of the characters. And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return]”

I don't know about you, but the thought of securing those names is a fine one. The prospect of Snipes and Stallone sharing the screen again, in a Demolition Man reunion, is enticing all by itself. It should be made compulsory that Snipes has to peroxide his hair for the film. I'd be surprised if Eastwood and Ford would be up for it, but if their roles are similar to Schwarzenegger's and Willis' in the first movie, it could prove to be an easy pay day for them.

It's worth noting that the film hasn't been green lit yet and it being so largely depends on the success of the second instalment. We'll have an idea of just how that's going to perform by the end of the weekend, though...
