Nathan Fillion signs on for Percy Jackson sequel
Nathan Fillion will play the villain, Hermes, in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters.
Nathan Fillion is to many of us viewed as a kind of god, so it only seems fitting then that he should play one. The cult actor and firm favourite of Joss Whedon has signed on to play Hermes in Percy Jackson And The Olympians: The Sea of Monsters, the sequel to Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief. Two movie titles that are a lot of fun to type out.
The sequel will find Logan Lerman’s Percy Jackson on a double mission to rescue his friend Grover (Brandon T Jackson) from Kronos, as well as recovering the golden fleece. Should just about fill a couple of hours, then.
Hermes was briefly in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and played by a different actor, but the casting of Fillion in the villainous role should make this slightly more appealing to many of us. The film begins shooting next month, ahead of a March 2013 release, with Thor Freudenthal on directorial duties.
