Crank 2: the poster

It tells you precisely feck all about the film, but still makes us happy
A spoiler for the original Crank infests our outright joy at the impending arrival of Jason Statham in Crank 2…

Let’s be absolutely clear on this point: Crank 2 is one of the most eagerly awaited films on the planet for many of us at Den Of Geek. It’s not just the fact that Jason Statham, as we’ve discussed previously, is the planet’s purest action star. It’s also the fact that the original was one of the most joyously over the top, glorious action extravaganzas we can recall, even better for coming out within weeks of Snakes On A Plane. What a month or two that was…
Anyway, the sequel that many weren’t expecting to see (it’s worth winding to the very, very end of the original for more of an explanation) is arriving in the next couple of months, and it sounds even more bonkers than the first one. This time, Chev Chelios – that’s Mr Statham to you and me – is being kept going by electricity, and presumably has to keep the required level of voltage up. What they come up with the third film is a matter for urgent excitement. Will he need a constant flow of jelly to keep his blood pumping or something?
Thanks to Latino Review, we now have a first glimpse of the poster for Crank 2, which is, er, the point of this story. Even if it’s taken us a couple of paragraphs to get there. You can click on the pic to get a bigger version and you’ll be rewarded with the word "Crank" carved into an arm, and a jolt of electricity between the two fingers (see what they did there). It tells you precisely feck all about the film, but still makes us happy.
And you can find a bigger version of the poster over at Latino Review, right here.
The date to mark in your diary is 17th April 2009. And we know a man called Duncan who would buy a special diary just to write that in…
