24 movie gets the greenlight
If you’re planning to be in the vicinity of Jack Bauer in the next year or so, it might be an idea to get some good life insurance: the 24 movie is going ahead…
The long-mooted 24 movie looks like it’s finally got the green light, as it’s been revealed that Kiefer Sutherland will be bringing the character of Jack Bauer to the big screen.
Fox is looking to have the film shooting next spring, with Mark Bomback doing some last minute working on the original screenplay from Billy Ray. He’s got a deadline of the end of the year, and then it’s a case of Fox picking a director for the film.
One suggested candidate, Tony Scott, will not be directing the movie, however. He’s had to leave the project, with suggestions being that his crowded schedule was the reason he departed.
Still, with production set to begin in April, don’t be surprised if Fox has a helmer in place by the start of 2012.
We’ll keep you posted on the 24 movie as we hear more. In the meantime, the original story is at Deadline, here.
