The release date for the movie of World War Z, starring Brad Pitt, is announced. And it's the day the world is supposed to end...

There’s something quite perfect about this. With production ongoing on its adaptation of Max Brooks’ World War Z, Paramount Pictures has formally confirmed the release date for the project: 21st December 2012.

If you’re not well versed in Mayan prophecy, that’s the date that the world is due to end. It seems nice and apt for a film that’s surrounding the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. Just to be on the safe side, though, Paramount might be wise to schedule a couple of preview screenings in the days beforehand, just so we get a chance to see it.

The film is being directed by Marc Forster, and a couple more pictures from the British shoot of the movie have appeared online. In these latest shots, we get to see Brad Pitt in his character’s garb.

More on World War Z as we get it…
