New trailer for Arthur Christmas
There’s nothing like a Christmas trailer in the middle of summer. But this is a trailer for Aardman Animation’s first film in five years…
Given that we're in a movie world where there's pressure on animated studio movie studios to deliver a new film every year, it makes it all the more astonishing that it's been five years since we've seen a fresh released from the mighty Aardman Animations. That said, since the release of Flushed Away in 2006, Aardman has hardly been short of work (its television work alone would be enough to keep most busy).
Yet, there's still a double treat coming up. For, after five years of no movies, we're about to get two. Next March, Chicken Run helmer and Morph creator, Peter Lord, is steering The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists, which we've had the pleasure of going behind the scenes on. What we've seen looks amazing, and we've very high hopes for it.
And before that, directors Sarah Smith and Barry Cook are putting the finishing touches to the digitally animated Arthur Christmas. This one's currently being worked on in the US, rather than Aardman's Bristol home, but it's still very distinctly the work of the studio (in conjunction with Sony Pictures Imageworks, which was behind Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs).
The story aims to answer the question of how Santa Claus manages to deliver everyone's presents in one night. And the new trailer for the film, which arrives in November, is offering up some clues.
We're really looking forward to this one. For now, we'll leave you with the new teaser trailer for it...
