PICTORIAL: Life's insight into geek movie history

Google's deal to make available 10 million photos from Life's archive promises many geek treasures...
Published on Dec 13, 2008
On the 18th November Google announced that it had secured an agreement to make available online about 10 million photos from the Life magazine archive. It's a collection of staggering breadth and depth, dating back in certain parts to the 18th century, and comfortably covering the entire history not only of cinema but of photography.
Currently about 20% of Life's archive is available via Google. To target the archive in a search, add source:life to the end of your search term like this. Currently Google has a result limit of about 800 images per search term, but you can delve deeper into Life's pictures by removing terms from your current result-set like this. As you remove pictures from the result-set, new ones will come to take their place (assuming there is an adequate number of matches).
Already the fraction of released pictures are unearthing gems for lovers of cult movies, so hopefully the next few months will yield even more curios from behind-the-scenes at our favourite films...
