Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development, reveals that a script for the movie is well on the way…

Truthfully? We used to get quite excited about reporting news of a potential Arrested Development movie. And yet, while it's still good to hear of progress being made, there are few bones in our bodies that genuinely think that this one will ever hit the big screen. Along with the Anchorman and Zoolander sequels, it might just become one of those comedy movies that we wanted to see, but for an assortment of reasons we'll never get the chance.

The latest update, for instance, champions the fact that the script to Arrested Development: The Movie is "half-done". That's come courtesy of Mitch Hurwitz, the show's creator. He revealed at the Television Critics Awards in the US, "We're writing it; we're halfway through...The reason I've been so cagey is fans have been so [eager about it]."

He went on to say, "I really want to do it...It's not going to be a big money maker...It's going to be fun, like a family reunion. The only stumbling block could be scheduling. Everybody wants to play together."

To be clear: we hope the movie comes together. Heck, there are heavy prices we'd be happy to pay for more Arrested Development. But it seems that over the last year or so, the mixture of stories saying it's happening and then it's not have left us thankful that we're not the ones who have to try and pull all of this stuff together.

There's more on this latest development at The Hollywood Reporter here.
