James Cameron looks set to join forces with Guillermo del Toro to finally bring HP Lovecraft’s At The Mountains Of Madness to the screen…

A few bits of news have been surfacing over the past week surrounding the project that director Guillermo del Toro will take on next, having left The Hobbit films earlier in the year.

Firstly, back at Comic-Con (which suddenly seems like an age away), del Toro announced that he was working with Disney on another take on a The Haunted Mansion movie, this time in 3D. However, what's emerged since then is that he won't be directing that one himself by the sounds of it, but will be involved as a producer and writer.

Now, he's also been talking to Deadline about some of his other projects. His long-mooted Disney project Double Dare You, for instance, has now fallen by the wayside.

However, there is some terrific news coming through too. For Deadline is reporting that del Toro's next directorial project may be the long-mooted film of HP Lovecraft's At The Mountains Of Madness, one that's been on his radar for some time. It's being set up with Universal, and James Cameron is joining the project as a producer, too.

It's arguably a more ambitious and far riskier undertaking than The Hobbit movies ever would have been, and while there's no official start date or anything of that ilk yet, this is very good news from where we're sitting. We'll certainly keep you posted on it.

You can find out more for now over at Deadline, right here.
