X-Men First Class casting update
We round up the latest casting announcements and rumours for the forthcoming X-Men: First Class. Is Kevin Bacon really signing up to play the villain…?
As script work continues on the forthcoming X-Men movie, X-Men: First Class (with Kick-Ass scribe Jane Goldman reportedly hard at work on the film), director Matthew Vaughn has been assembling the cast who will be joining the formative classes of Professor X's school.
We already knew that James McAvoy was on board as Professor Xavier, and that Michael Fassbender was set to play Magneto. However, a few more names have been slotting into place.
Alice Eve, for instance, has signed up to play Emma Frost (Eve got close to landing the role of Peggy Carter in The First Avenger: Captain America), while Aaron Johnson - Kick-Ass himself - has signed on the dotted line to play the younger Cyclops.
Lucas Till, meanwhile, is set to play his younger brother, Havok, while Nicholas Hoult has been confirmed as Beast, and Caleb Landry Jones is on board to play Banshee.
Perhaps most interesting of all, however, is the rumour from Deadline as to who will be playing X-Men: First Class' villain. For the site reports that Mr Kevin Bacon has been offered the role, even though it's not clear yet if the actor has taken it or not.
Matthew Vaughn is set to start shooting X-Men: First Class from this August, and the film is scheduled for release on 3rd June 2011. More on it as we get it...
