Harry Potter: final book to spawn two movies

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows is to be made into two films, it's been revealed...

Published on Mar 14, 2008

With shooting continuing on the sixth Harry Potter movie, many assumed that – with one book then left unfilmed – that there’d be one last film to go as well.

But that doesn’t factor in the Warner Bros franchising machine, that knows a good thing when it sees it. Thus, it’ll be prolonging the Potter franchise into 2011, with the announcement that the last Harry Potter book – Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows – is going to be split into two.

This will also see the franchise breaking out of its every eighteen months cycle, as once Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince is released this November, there will be a two year wait for the next film. So part one of Deathly Hallows will be out in November 2010, but then it’ll just be six months til part two arrives, in May of 2011.

Warner Bros has not commented on speculation that it plans to make another Police Academy movie, and split that into two as well. It is believed to be interested in a new documentary about how far you can torture a golden goose before you have to kill it, though.

Hummm.... wonder if they're going to change the content, i.e. extend the last chapter. I really hope not because it was utterly shite. Bit odd that, because if they don't extend anything and stick closely to the book, the book is the same length as the one before it so there's really no reason to split it. Bastards are just delaying the inevitable.
