Commando set to be rebooted
One of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s many action movies of the 80s is to get a modern day lick of paint…
Here's a scary story. It emerged yesterday that 20th Century Fox was lobbing another ingredient into the cauldron of Hollywood remakes and reboots, with the news breaking that Commando was next up for the treatment.
The 80s Arnold Schwarzenegger action-fest, that basically stood as an excuse to blow copious amounts of shit up in a very 1980s way. You wouldn't call it vintage Arnie, but it's a film that's hard to resist when beer and curry are in the vicinity.
The new version of the film has been put into the hands of David Ayers by Fox, who previously directed Street Kings and Harsh Times. He also wrote Training Day too. The plan is for it to ‘reboot' the series, presumably in a not-dissimilar manner to the way Predators is looking to bring back to life the Predator franchise.
With a Total Recall sequel also somewhere in the midst of production, it can surely only be a matter of time now before we get Kindergarten Cop 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Here's the story at Deadline Hollywood.
