A prequel to Tim Burton’s Planet Of The Apes movie is set to go before the cameras this summer, it’s been revealed…

It's been mooted for some time, but after Tim Burton's disastrous attempt to reboot the Planet Of The Apes series nearly a decade ago, Fox has bided its time in taking another stab at one of its most popular franchises. However, it seems that the time has now come to have another go.

This time, the film is going to be a prequel to Burton's film, and after directors such as Robert Rodriguez and Kathryn Bigelow passed on the project, the reigns have been handed to Rupert Wyatt. Wyatt, who previously helmed The Escapist, is set to start production on the new film in July.

The film itself is actually a remake of Conquest Of Planet Of The Apes, and it's going to go by the name Planet Of The Apes: Caesar. No release date for the film has been confirmed, but we'll certainly keep you posted.
