Rosemary's Baby set for remake?
Simon Brew
You read that right. After Roman Polanski made a classic version of Rosemary's Baby, Hollywood has decided we need another. Sigh.

Nonetheless, the fact that – as many would argue – a definitive version of the story has already been filmed is no barrier to a cash-hungry Hollywood. And thus Paramount Pictures has started negotiating with Platinum Dunes about doing a new version of the film. The partners in Platinum Dunes will be on producing duties. They are Andrew Form, Brad Fuller and – you sitting down? – Mr Michael Bay.
I’ll happily sit and defend a certain segment of Michael Bay’s work, even though I agree with the criticism that he’s more a leerer than a director, but the thought of even his producing paws near something as iconic as Rosemary’s Baby does induce a bit of a shudder.
At this stage, the project is only in the negotiations stage, and Platinum Dunes have apparently promised to be meticulous with the job of remaking the film. Paramount, meanwhile, has not commented on rumours that another of its biggest Oscar-winning hits, Forrest Gump, is being remade by Rob Zombie.
