Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time trailer

Jake Gyllenhaal takes the lead as the movie adaptation of Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time gets a full length trailer…

Can the curse of the videogame to film adaptation finally be broken? The next to have a go is Jerry Bruckheimer, who has taken the splendid Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time game and spent an awful lot of money on it. The result is one of Disney's big movies for next summer, with Mike Newell standing behind the camera, and Jake Gyllenhaal in the title role.

Over at IGN, the first trailer for the film has now been released too, although half of it is spent with Gemma Arterton spouting mumbo jumbo voiceover nonsense. Granted, that mumbo jumbo is the plot, but a two-and-a-half minute trailer perhaps isn't the place to elaborate on it quite so much. There's a dagger, some sand, (Sir) Ben Kingsley and a film that, right now, doesn't look anything particularly special. It's a perfectly competent tick-box trailer from where we're sitting, with a bucketload of special effects of varying quality chucked in.

See what you think below, and the film itself will be arriving on May 28th next year...
