The brand new Star Trek trailer - watch it here in high-quality...
Published on Nov 17, 2008
Last week, Martin was lucky enough to see the brand new trailer for Star Trek, along with four complete scenes from the upcoming movie. Up until that point, we'd had an early teaser to satiate ourselves with, but nothing in the shape of real, moving footage.
But finally it's here. The brand new trailer, which premiered alongside Quantum Of Solace in the US over the weekend, has now been released onto the Internet, and you can view it by clicking below.
Don't forget too there's the small matter of Martin's report of the scenes he saw, which you can read here...

Thank-you, D.O.G., for posting the trailer. I watched with wide and hungry eyes - to begin with. It didn't take long for me to roll my eyes with disillusionment. It looks like Kirk was a very stupid child, apparently with no sense of direction - and a bad little actor at that. (He won't be on screen long though, right?) The construction of the Enterprise seems to be taking place on a rather bad matte painting. Why is (teen-age?) Spock shown standing back-towards the camera, at (seemingly)a urinal? With all those glaring bulbs and white light - is that the Bridge of a Starfleet vessel, or is it a hair styling salon? Sorry to see that Shinzon is back. (It looks too much like him. And why, in his comments on the movie, did Abrams think it was an "original" idea to feature the Romulans instead of the "usual" Klingons? He never heard of "Star Trek - Nemesis", the LAST ST movie?!) A number of kissy-kissy, sexy, titillating moments that should make geeks everywhere giggle with fascination - and others laugh out loud. Oh, and all sorts of big explosions and dazzling special effects. I wonder if the movie will have any sort of actual plot? There isn't one on display anywhere in this trailer. Yes, yes, I know... that was all quite negative. I've been waiting a long time for this movie. It's not where I would like the "franchise" to go... meaning, like the TV series, "Enterprise", we're once again stuck in Star Trek's past. It's the future that humans wonder about the most. That which is our destiny - or in the case of "Star Trek", the future of the future. Of course it's mankind's nature to rewrite history. But rewriting the future history of the future? Why not just keep going forward further into the future - past Next Gen, past DS9, past Voyager? Oh well. Regardless of my above comments, I am still looking forward to this movie. My expectations have been lowered a bit, but perhaps that's for the better.

Although I amazingly excited, I'm also slightly concerned about this movie from watching the trailer.
Why put a 10 year old kid driving a car off a cliff at the start? Kirk isn't that reckless is he?
And I hope that 20 something Kirk isn't the captain of the enterprise. Shouldn't he need a bit of experience before taking the captain's chair?
I really want the Star Trek franchise to get up and running again and another dud movie won't help. Probably me being overly geeky, but still...
