The Dark Knight sequel: David Goyer cuts through Batman rumours
Simon Brew
Should Cher and Philip Seymour Hoffman's agents start hunting for different work for their clients?
As The Dark Knight wings its way to DVD (it’s out on December 9th), the rumours about the next Batman film continue to fly. Yet in an interview with MTV News, David Goyer – the co-writer of Batman Begins, and co-story creator of The Dark Knight – has laughed off the abundance of rumours that have been floating around.
In the interview, he declares “It’s all B.S. All of it”. Thus, you can scrub – for the time being at least – the idea of Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin and Cher as Catwoman, and in fact any mention or confirmation of villains. And while Goyer and Nolan have had some casual natters about where to go next, Christopher Nolan’s name is still not on the dotted line. Goyer instead repeated that Nolan is having a long break to refresh himself, and when there’s something to say, then he’ll do his own talking.
