Men In Black 3 on the way?
Simon Brew
Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones may be about to tackle the world of Men In Black one more time. Suits at the ready...

Hmmm. Recently, when we penned a piece looking at the franchises that the stars can rely on when their careers hit the skids, we noted that Will Smith had a richer choice than most. He could, we wrote, do follow-ups to the likes of Independence Day, Hitch and Bad Boys. And we also, foolishly, mentioned Men In Black.
Now Men In Black is one of those franchises that really should have been much, much better. The core idea behind it was always great, and yet even the first film never really had enough fun with it. The sequel? Ah, straight off the Police Academy School Of Sequels production line, a blatant rehash with little obvious desire behind it short of to make a few bob. Bluntly, we were happy to see the franchise dead if that’s all they intended to do with it.
Well, it may still have some life in it, though. According to a piece over at Parade, there’s still an enthusiasm among Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith to do a third film, and if schedules allow, then it’s likely to get a green light. With Sony also pushed for a threequel to Ghostbusters (as well as two Spider-man films), it does fall in line with the studio’s general strategy.
Given that Smith also is attached to I Am Legend 2, all we do now is await the inevitable announcement that Wild Wild West 2 has, indeed, been given the green light. Yikes.
