Obsessive site Of The Day: Ann Dvorak
Martin Anderson
Whatever small aspect of movies or life you can think of, there's a whole website somewhere obsessing about it....

Sometimes one sees an actor or actress in a very old film and goes to see if Google has any snippets of information on them beyond minimal Wikipedia links and IMDB references. And sometimes, one gets lucky and finds that a completely obsessed fan has created a vast and ongoing resource for a long-dead, often minor star. So it is with the actress who played Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio's role in the original Paul Muni version of Scarface in 1927.
Dvorak fanatic 'Christina' has compiled a superb resource on the actress, who died in her late sixties in 1979, and whose heyday was as a Warner Bros female lead in the 1930s. It's worth catching the original Scarface to see what all the fuss was about, not only for the film itself but two superb performances from Muni and Dvorak.
Meantime, Ann Dvorak - Hollywood's Forgotten Rebel can answer pretty much any question you might have on its subject matter. Shame about the watermarked pics, but it's great to see such a well-organised site that is updated very regularly...
