Watch Dogs – Welcome To Chicago trailer
Ubisoft's Watch Dogs has a new trailer detailing the city, the people and your power over them...
The delay of one of the year's most anticipated games, Watch Dogs, is getting closer to being over, and to rekindle any lost interest in the title, which has risked dropping off people's radar with limited exposure recently, Ubisoft has released a new trailer.
This teaser focuses on the city of Chicago, which has been created to be both expansive and detailed. The life of the city will be all about the little things, like realistic lighting, physics and weather effects, but even more so thanks to the game's digital population.
The citizens of Watch Dogs aren't going to be your usual, GTA-style peds who wander aimlessly around. Instead, Ubisoft claims that each of these will be a distinct person, with their own lives and agendas. You can spy on any of them (even in their own homes), and anyone could be a victim or potential criminal. They may even be your enemy, and can call bounty hunters onto you if you cross them, or turn you into the police. Other players may also be disguised as a civilian, entering your game covertly to make your life difficult.
Luckily, as an elite hacker, you can not only get the scoop on anyone, but you can also control the city itself to turn the advantage back to you, and this has been focused on in-depth before, and is once again shown here.
If the trailer is anything to go by, and Ubisoft's lofty promises come to fruition, then Watch Dogs could be the spectacular title we all hope it'll be. Much has been made online about the apparent drop in visual quality, but we'll hold judgement until we see the final product, which will arrive on May 27 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC. The Wii U version will follow at a later date.
