High Moon and Michael Bay collide in the latest Transformers title, and you can see the trailer here...

Leaving any opinion about the Michael Bay movies aside for the moment, the Transformers, whatever their guise, are perfect video game material. Whether it's original 80s generation one incarnations, Beast Wars animalism, or Bay-era clockwork heroes, giant transforming robots make for great action game characters. With this in mind, the latest Transformers title is going to give fans not one generation of the robots in disguise, but two.

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is the name of the next game, and it'll fuse together the universes of High Moon's Cybertron games and Michael Bay's films, featuring both series' version of the titular shape-shifting 'bots.

High Moon's titles were both very solid games, pleasing most long-time Transformers fans with their take on the original generation one origin story, but the studio isn't actually working on the new game. Instead, Edge of Reality is handling the project. The game is also coming to 3DS courtesy of Way Forward.

So, have a look at the trailer and see what a mixture of video game and move Transformers looks like.

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark will arrive for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U, 3DS and PC later this year, coinciding with Bay's next film, Transformers: Age of Extinction.
