New PS4 indie games announced
Sony has revealed a few indie titles coming to PS4, and there's clearly some 16-bit love...
Although the PS4 is a powerful console, outfitted with plenty of graphical muscle, some of the best games on the system so far are retro-styled indie titles. Great games like Mercenary Kings, Don't Starve and launch title, Resogun, are all successful releases, and we've got plenty more to look forward to.
Sony recently revealed a collection of additional indies that hare headed to the PS4, and you can see trailers for most of them below. There's clearly a 16-bit theme going on, with side-scrollers like Chasm, Escape Goat 2 and retro shooter, Jamestown Plus. And, the particularly impressive looking Axiom Verge looks like it'll be a stylish Metroidvania-like adventure.
Some more stylised games are also coming, such as the greek-themed Apotheon, and indie hit, Nindogg. Drifter looks set to be a new take on the classic Elite formula, with open space trading and combat, and Ironclad Tactics brings card battling and robots to the American Civil War. The visually impressive Source is looking great, as is the odd Starwhal: Just the Tip. And, cartoon strategy will be delivered by Skulls of the Shogun. This is topped off by indie hit, Spelunky, which is also coming to the Sony system.
