PS1 and PS2 games coming to PS4
PS3 games will be joined by older PlayStation classics on PS4, according to online sources...
It's being reported over at Eurogamer that Sony is planning to roll out a whole boatload of legacy emulation, and it's not only going to be made possible by the cloud.
Eurogamer claims that a 'well-placed source working with Sony's streaming service' has revealed that the PS4 will only use the cloud to achieve PS3 emulation. For older, PS1 and PS2 emulation, it'll use it's own local hardware and software, much like the PS3 did.
Unlike the PS3 emulation of the older generation of PlayStation, the PS4's revising of the classics will also contain the possibility of HD enhancements. This should produce a far clearer and much better looking legacy emulation than the PS3.
Titles will no doubt appear on PSN for download in time, as they did on the PS3, but hopefully the selection will be more varied and complete than we saw last generation.
Local emulation will please many, although it's likely that the same options will also appear via the new PlayStation Now service too.
