Sony planning PS4 VR headset reveal
This year's Tokyo Game Show will see Sony demonstrate its VR headset for the PlayStation 4...
With the Oculus Rift VR headset gathering more and more momentum in the industry, it would appear as though virtual reality is coming back for another try, and Sony is also keen to get in on the act.
The PlayStation 4-branded headset will be revealed at TGS, after it missed the Gamescom boat due to last minute problems. The unit is set to be a peripheral add-on for the console, and already PS4 game developers are looking into the technology, at least according to anonymous sources over at CVG. These sources states that Evolution Studios, which is currently working on DriveClub, is exploring the options available with the new headset for the launch title.
This move will bring Sony into direct competition with the Oculus Rift, which is gathering a lot of support, particularly on the PC. Now that VR headsets are more affordable and less unwieldy as the mammoth 90s units the technology stands a much better chance of succeeding, and if Sony puts enough muscle behind it, we could see much more from it in the future.
For now, though, and just because we can, take yourself back to the 90s with this clip from Craig Charles game show, Cyber Zone.
