2014 will see the arrival of more adventures for GTA V's trio of criminal protagonists, Rockstar has announced...

By now most GTA V players have completed the story campaign, and have well and truly dipped their toes into GTA Online. We've already had one DLC in the form of the Beach Bum pack for the online component, but Rockstar isn't ignoring the solo experience.

The developer has announced, via its Newswire site, that a 'substantial' amount of solo content will be delivered next year, and it'll carry on the existing story arc.

"For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V, we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas," said the announcement.

Will Michael, Franklin and Trevor end up meeting an older Carl Johnson of Grove Street fame, as hinted at by previous reports that Young Malay was working with Franklin voice actor, Shawn Fonteno? Or, will the DLC not return to previous lore at all? Which is possible given that the SD and HD universes are reportedly separate, despite evidence to the contrary in each game. Time will tell.

Along with the solo DLC, Rockstar is also working on the anticipated GTAO co-op heists, which are also slated to arrive next year.

"Heists are currently in development and we are working very hard to get them as polished and as fun as they can be. Stay tuned for much more detail in the New Year.”

The content creator, footage of which has already leaked online, is entering beta by the time you read this, so actual user created content will be possible. This comes alongside a new team-based mode. This will be a capture the flag-style mode, but with GTA's own twist, seeing teams steal vehicles, drugs and other items from the opposing team's base. This will arrive sometime this month, with 'much more' to still be revealed.
