Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V is so large, it's going to span two discs on the Xbox 360...

Grand Theft Auto V is being billed by Rockstar as its biggest and most ambitious game to date, so much so that all of that gaming goodness won't fit onto a single Xbox 360 disc.

The company has announced in an official Q&A on its website that the Xbox 360 version of the game will come on two discs, with one being used for a mandatory install, whilst the other is used to actually play both single and multiplayer games.

The PlayStation 3 version will come on a single Blu-ray disc, of course, but will also require the mandatory installation. This instal will weigh in at a pretty sizeable 8GB, which is around twice the size of the usual PS3 install. You can also use a USB flash drive on 360 for the instillation if you're low on space.

This news also comes alongside Rockstar's statement in the same Q&A that it's totally focused on current gen releases of GTA V.

"The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which are set for a September 17th worldwide release,” said the developer in response to a question about possible next gen and PC version of the game.

The Q&A also promises some more information about the multiplayer mode, called Grand Theft Auto Online, soon, and the September 17 release date is also secure, with no delays in sight.

Grand Theft Auto V will be released on September 17 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
