Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon launch trailer
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is available, and here's the 80s-tastic launch trailer...
If the phrases “I have the power!”, “Thundercats... Hoooooo!”, “Yo, Joe!” and “I'll be back.” bring with them that fuzzy, nostalgic feeling, then Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon may be the perfect title for you.
The 80s-themed spin-off for Far Cry 3 stars Michael Biehn as Sergeant Rex Power Colt, a cyborg soldier sent to a remote island in order to save the world from the crazed whims of a madman. Pretty standard 80s stuff really, which is the whole point.
Soaked in 80s riffs and in-jokes, Blood Dragon borrows heavily from all sorts of 80s action movies, cartoons and culture, and features an open world to explore and destroy. As with the original Far Cry 3, you're able to hunt animals, utilise a range of weapons and clear out enemy encampments alongside the main story missions. The difference here is that the animals are cyborgs, the weapons are lasers and the enemy encampments have great big green forcefields around them.
Then there's the eponymous Blood Dragons, the new predators of the game. These mini-Godzillas can breath laser, are practically unstoppable and are not only your greatest threat, but you best weapon against the cyborg army.
The digital download-only game is available on XBLA, PSN and Steam for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC now in Europe, and will be available in the US tomorrow. You'll find the launch trailer below.
