Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon trailer
Ubisoft has revealed a trailer and website for the upcoming Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, but is it real?
It's certainly not the kind of expansion you'd expect to see for a Far Cry game. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is going to be a little different from its parent's source material, if it's not an elaborate April Fool's prank.
Taking the form of an 80s sci-fi adventure, Blood Dragon will be set in 'the future' of 2007 where Earth has been devastated by nuclear war. In a bid to find a way to restore peace, a cyborg army locates a bioweapon on a distant island.
As Sergeant Rex Power Colt, players will infiltrate the island in order to uncover more information about the weapon.
The released trailer doesn't give much away, and simply hits viewers with 80s-tastic images, with a nano-second flash of what appears to be an FPS image, but the website offers more.
Along with the story there's a fictional interview with Director, Alexis Graveyard, and links to a shop selling al sorts of wacky merchandise. Also, if you enter the Konami code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, A, B) you'll be able to destroy most of the site's images and text, eventually revealing an interesting gif.
It's not entirely clear at the time of writing if this is, indeed, an April Fool's prank, although evidence has backed up the legitimacy of the release, such as a Brazilian classification rating and leaked achievements. It's also not really known if Blood Dragon will, if real, be a full game or expansion for the existing Far Cry 3. Time will tell.
