Escape Dead Island announced
A new spin on the Dead Island series has been revealed by Deep Silver, including a launch trailer...
Although Dead Island 2 has just been revealed at E3, Deep Silver isn't limiting it's zombie-mashing to just one game, and Escape Dead Island has been revealed for PC and last gen consoles.
Unlike the main series, Escape Dead Island will be a third person title with more of an emphasis on survival horror. Whereas the main games focuses on crushing skulls and removing limbs from the steady stream of undead foes, here it'll be more like traditional survival horror games, requiring stealth and enemy avoidance, especially as your hero, Cliff Calo, starts out with no weapons to defend himself. Of course, the first difference you'll notice when you watch the trailer is the move to more stylised cel-shaded visuals.
The game's story will bridge the events of the first and second games, revealing the origin of the deadly virus, and by the looks of it, it'll also feature all sorts of crazy going on, be they dream or drug induced. Cliff witnesses some strange stuff, even more off the rails than an army of undead.
If you pre-order the game from Gamestop (making this a US only deal at the moment), you'll also get access to the beta for Dead Island 2.
Escape Dead Island will arrive in autumn/fall for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, and will cost $39.99.
