New Deus Ex coming for next gen
Eidos Montreal is working on a next gen outing for the Deus Ex series, and it's a whole new universe...
It's been confirmed that a new Deus Ex title is in development and its coming to next generation consoles and PC. The game will be part of the new Deus Ex: Universe, which will encompass a number of core Deus Ex games.
The news came in a blog post by David Anfossi, head of Eidos Montreal. In it he provided a brief outline of Deus Ex: Universe.
“The concept behind Deus Ex: Universe is to create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games. It’s a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before.”
The universe will cover several games on various platforms, as well as other mediums, such as tablets, smartphones, books and graphic novels. Work on the first game is already progressing, and below is the first concept art, which depicts 'Ghetto City', a location built to segregate society classes. The first new game will focus on this trans-human segregation, showing how people have come to shape their environment to recapture the Cyber Renaissance they once strived for.
Alongside the Deus Ex: Universe announcement, Anfossi also confirmed the release date for the Director's Cut version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The game will be shipping on October 22 in the US, and October 25 in Europe for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 Wii U and PC.
