Gearbox announces Battleborn
Gearbox Software has announced a new IP called Battleborn, and you can see the teaser trailer here...
Gearbox Software, best known to many for the Borderlands series, has announced a new IP called Battleborn, a 'hero-shooter'. The new game, the reveal trailer for which you can see below, will be another first person shooter, and by the looks of it, it'll feature very similar blasting action, pitting you against large waves of foes on an alien world. It's being worked on by the same team that brought us the excellent Borderlands 2, and It's being developed for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
This time, the game's story revolves around heroes battling to save the last star in existence from an invading force. Sounds a little bit like a certain upcoming Bungie title to us, but as Destiny clearly has influences from Borderlands, that's fair enough. These new heroes include bow and arrow-wielding elves, clockwork gentlemen, Team Fortress-style heavy weapons guys and powerful wizards.
Like Borderlands, Battleborn will focus on co-operative multiplayer, but will also feature a dedicated competitive PvP mode. It's being touted by Gearbox, and company president, Randy Pitchford, as the biggest game the team has ever worked on.
“As a genre-fused, hobby-grade, co-operative and competitive FPS exploding with eye-popping style and an imaginative universe, Battleborn is the most ambitious video game that Gearbox has ever created.”, Pitchford said in the official press release.
The trailer is certainly interesting, we just hope the game is different enough from Borderlands and Destiny to stand up on its own merits. Have a look and see for yourself.
