The next Batman: Arkham game, Origins, may be coming as soon as this year...

Rumours have been circulating about the next entry in the Batman: Arkham series for a while now, but in a report from French website, Gameblog (picked up by CVG) it appears as though rumours haven't been entirely accurate.

As suspected by many, the next game, which is apparently going to be titled Batman: Arkham Origins, will be influenced by DC's Silver Age, and will be a prequel of sorts. The story will be based around Batman's first meeting with the Joker, and will even draft in other DC Justice League heroes such as the Green Lantern and Superman.

What's more, whilst it was previously thought that Rocksteady, the Arkham series creator, was not going to be involved with the project, that looks to be untrue, and the original developer will be working on the game, which will arrive for both current and next generation platforms.

Gameblog also reports that Batman: Arkham Origins will be revealed at this year's E3, and may be released in the third quarter of 2013, making it a relatively short wait until be get our hands on the Caped Crusader once again.
