Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag pirate gameplay trailer
A new gameplay trailer for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is here, and it's heavy on game features...
Narrated by Ashraf Ismail, Assassin's Creed 4's game director, the new trailer shows a whole host of gameplay focusing on the Jackdaw, Edward Kenway's trusty vessel, and the game's second main character.
The Jackdaw is fully upgradable, and you'll need to do so to progress through the game. To do this you'll need to locate lost treasure to find blueprints that can upgrade the ship, as shown here. This treasure is spread across the huge game world which includes 50 unique locations to explore.
You can't upgrade the Jackdaw without materials, though, and so you'll need to attack and pillage enemy ships using the enhanced naval combat system. This includes new cannons that can be aimed, more powerful ammunition, and swivel guns that can take out enemy crew before you board.
Once an enemy ship is boarded, you have several options open to capture it. Brute force, thinning out the crew with swivel guns and stealth or all possible, again it's up to you as captain. You can also free the crew to gain more sailors for the Jackdaw, and can even harvest the captured ship to repair any damage the Jackdaw has suffered.
You can also attack and take over forts, which will then work for you, attacking your enemies. This will, in turn, open up new missions. And, as you roam the world, you'll encounter all sorts of other battles, which you can choose to take advantage of in order to take over more ships. It's up to you.
Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be released on November 1 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U, with Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC versions to follow.
