Games That Won't Turn Children Violent

Simon Brew & Sarah Dobbs & John Moore (for the Need for Speed gag)

A US organisation has released a list of games that shouldn't be given to children this Christmas. We just had to contribute ourselves...

Published on Dec 14, 2007

According to MediaWise.org, parents should be aware that they shouldn't be buying their children certain games for Christmas this year unless they want them to turn into violent psychopaths (or something). The bad list is as follows:

1. Assassin's Creed
2. Call of Duty 4
3. Conan
4. The Darkness
5. Jericho
6. Kane and Lynch: Dead Men
7. Manhunt 2
8. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
9. Stranglehold
10. Time Shift.

So what should they buy instead? Well...

1. FIFA Soccer 08
2. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
3. Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour
4. Madden NFL 08
5. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
6. Needs for Speed Pro Street
7. The Sims 2: Castaway
8. Super Marios Bros 3
9. Super Mario Galaxy
10. Viva Pinata

To help, and to get in the spirit of things, we’ve come up with our ten games currently in development that are acceptable:

1. Cliff Richard Singstar
2. Buzz! The Songs of Praise Edition
3. Kum-by-yah Guitar Hero
4. Ban Hunt: a game where you find unacceptable things to ban
5. Kane & Lynch: Alive Men
6. Resident Medieval History CD-ROM
7. Sunday School Tycoon
8. Need For Speed: Limits
9. Enid Blyton’s Jericho
10. Halo (we're very pleased with this one)

Let’s have your suggestions in the comments field…!

Need for Speed Limits is probably the funniest thing I've heard this year. Well done, John Moore!
