The Remembering Reach live action trailers for Halo Reach that have been released this past week have been combined into a single three minute movie, depicting the human colonies coming to terms with the ill-fated war that awaits them.
This short is the latest in a long line of classy advertisements for the Halo franchise, with Bungie clearly having a keen eye when it comes to representing its most valued property.
The clip is entirely character-driven and has a very sombre tone that, from first impressions, at least, will continue throughout the Reach campaign.
Along with generating hype for the next instalment in the Halo series, it should also be noted that releasing a highbrow live action short such as this will inevitably stoke the fires of the dwindling ‘Halo movie' flames, inciting fans to hop back into that rumour mill all over again.
Metroid: Other M has also released a live action trailer, inevitably drawing comparisons with its Xbox sci-fi rival. Featuring a, frankly, terrifying looking Ridley and a suitably beautiful Samus walking through a corridor of past memories, it's all very mouth watering stuff... until footage of the gameplay kicks in.
We are all well aware of the graphical limitations of the Nintendo Wii, so to slap 20 seconds of Other M's comparably mediocre visuals onto the back-end of an otherwise aesthetically gorgeous clip could be deemed as something of a misstep. Judge for yourself...
Metroid: Other M is due for release in the UK on 3 September for the Nintendo Wii, while Halo Reach is set for a 14 September launch on Xbox 360.
