Dead Space 2 confirmed

A leaked job ad earlier in the year made us aware that Dead Space 2 was on the way – and now, EA has just gone and confirmed it…

It's hardly a surprise, yet EA has nonetheless given the world a bit of pre-Christmas cheer by confirming the existence of a sequel to last year's terrific Dead Space.

Dead Space 2 will be arriving on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC (and could we have a better control system for the PC version this time, please?), with the action again focussing on our hero, Isaac Clarke. This time, he's fighting back against the Necromorphs, rather than spending the game on the run, and EA is promising a whole host of new weapons to help in his quest. Furthermore, expect zero gravity segments to the game this time as well.

The game itself has no fixed release date yet, although we do know that Visceral Games is once more on production duties. Don't rule out a release next Christmas, though, even if there's a sporting chance that 2011 is just as likely.
