Tekken meets Pokemon in Pokken
Nintendo's pocket monsters are moving from turn-based combat to real-time fisticuffs...
I guess it was inevitable. Those lovable monsters that people all over the world capture and force to fight each other in tournament combat are breaking free of their traditional turn-based RPG restraints, and are set to enter the world of the full-fledged fighter.
Thanks to a collaboration between Nintendo and Bandai Namco, the Pokemon series is being fused with Tekken, produce new fighter, Pokken. Yes, really. Pokken. This is the 'shocking announcement' promised last week, and a first look teaser has been released, which you can see below.
The game is set to be released in Japanese arcades next year, with no confirmation of it making it to the west or being ported to home consoles. However, given the huge popularity of Pokemon, I'd say it's likely that both will happen eventually, if the game is any good, that is.
