Monkey Island returns!

Guybrush Threepwood is set to return, as two new Monkey Island projects get set to make our summer…

LucasArts has announced a return to the world of gaming for arguably the finest adventure series of all time, Monkey Island. Granted, the latter games haven't recaptured the majesty and humour of the first two Monkey Island titles, but there's some news about that which put a big cheesy grin slap bang upon our chops.
Firstly, Telltale - the same firm that successfully revived Sam & Max - is going to be bringing a series of games under the Tales Of Monkey Island banner. This will take the form of five monthly episodes, and they'll each be available for PC and Nintendo Wii (via WiiWare). Episode one will be available from July 7th.
And then the big one. A brand new special edition of the game that started it all, The Secret Of Monkey Island, is arriving in the summer. This will include a full voiceover, new graphics, remastered music but effectively the same core game that won the series all its plaudits right back in 1990. This is a lovely piece of news, and The Secret Of Monkey Island: Special Edition will be gracing Xbox 360 and PC.
More on both of these projects can be found at www.telltalegames.com/monkeyisland. All this on the same day we get release details for Alan Wake. It's simply too much...
