Modern Warfare 2: the full-length trailer

Simon Brew

If you thought Call Of Duty 4 was special, Modern Warfare 2 might just be the game of the year in waiting…

Published on May 26, 2009

After the brief teaser we got earlier in the year, Activision and Infinity Ward have released a longer preview of what we can expect from November's Modern Warfare 2. Note that the words ‘Call of Duty' have been dropped from the title, even if this is Call Of Duty 4 II by any other name.

It's almost taken for granted now that this is one of the most looked forward to games of the year, and this trailer has done absolutely nothing to dampen our enthusiasm for it.

The trailer plays out like a big budget Hollywood action movie, that you just happen to be at the heart of. And while it's cut-scene heavy, it does show some snippets of the gamers' perspective too. That stuff coming out of the side of our mouth? Saliva, and lots of it.

The game is out, as the trailer reminds us, at the end, on 10th November 2009. We're writing out our holiday form now...

Looks pant wettingly good! Just wonder what the single player will be like... I hope you get to lead a squad like in the Rainbow 6 games.

Im not sure and perhaps someone here can confirm, but someone was telling me vehicles will be included in the multiplayer. I am very against this. Every game ive ever played with vehicles in the multiplayer has been fun perhaps, but i play COD for the realism. This game makes me feel like im actually there. And the addition of vehicles will only take away from the feeling as it is simply very difficult to make the vehicles work properly. Driving controls become a factor. Switching from drivers seat to gun turrets and such can be glitchy if not done right. I hope its not true. Im sure it wont ruin the game, but i wont enjoy it. Tanks in COD5 were ok, but unless two equally well organized teams are playing, the Tanks become basically really unfair. Ive gone like 25-0 in a tank. However that said, if two equally matched teams are playing the tanks become a really fun strategic tool. And they actually increase the strategy that can be used. But this is strictly tanks. Hummvees and other cars or vehicles would most likely be a silly addition. Im hoping they dont put any vehicles at all.
