Pokémon Rumble U will support NFC
The new Pokémon will be the first Wii U title to support NFC...
The Wii U's ability to support Near Field Communication (NFC) will be utilised by what is perhaps, the most suitable game series for the tech, Pokémon.
It's been discovered in Japanese mag, CoroCoro (found by Serebii.net) that Pokémon Rumble U will make use of NFC, allowing players to purchase collectable Pokémon figurines, which can be placed into the game, much like other similar titles, like the popular Skylanders.
The figures will use the Wii U gamepad's NFC reader, and will be zapped into the game world, where they can be used in Pokémon battles.
Pokémon Rumble U is going to retail in Japan for 1,800 yen, which will equate to around £12.50, and seven figures will be available at launch, each costing around 200 yen, or around £1.40. The figures will, reportedly, store battle information, making them more than simple paperweights.
At the moment, the game is only slated for release in the east, and details of availability in other regions are pending.
