Crysis 3 multiplayer open beta is live
You can get your hands on Crysis 3’s multiplayer open beta right now…
If you point your PC in Origin’s direction or venture onto Xbox Live or PSN you’ll now be able to grab a copy of the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta. Opening up on January 29, the beta is an early look at the online functions of Crytek’s upcoming nano-powered FPS.
The beta includes a small portion of the full game’s multiplayer component, and offers two games modes and two maps. The game modes include hunter, in which two nano-suited players must tackle a team of Cell soldiers. When a Cell soldier is killed, they become a hunter, and the round ends when all hunters or soldiers are toast.
The second mode is Crash Site. This mode is similar to the standard domination-style play, except that control points take the form of pods that are dropped randomly into the world. These are captured and held onto to accrue points, until the pod explodes and another is dropped elsewhere on the map.
The beta also includes the stat-tracking New York feed, which keeps tabs on you and your friend’s progress via a dynamically generated map of New York.
Both the PC and console betas are much the same, except player limits. Hunter mode on PC can handle 16 players, with the consoles holding 12, and Crash Site has 8 combatants per team on PC, as opposed to the console’s 6 per team.
It’s just a small taste of what the retail game’s multiplayer has to offer, with the full package arriving on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on February 19. Watch the beta tutorial below.
