CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 has been given a teaser trailer, and here it is…

Shifting from the swords and sorcery of The Witcher to the bullets and bio-organics of the future, Projekt Red’s next game, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a new RPG based upon the original 1988 role-player.

The game is centred on the exploits of ‘Psycho Squad’, a special law enforcement team based in the game’s setting of Night City. The elite unit combats those who amp themselves up with mechanical implants and go crazy, and this trailer shows how the unit may even go about acquiring new members.

The city is also in the grip of a new, dangerous form of entertainment, the Braindance. This lets people experience other people’s lives, right down to muscle movements and feelings. Think Being John Malkovich, only with less cupboards and more cybernetic brain implants. This new drug, of sorts, can leave people washed up and unsure of who they really are, such is the addictive nature of living in someone else’s existence.

The trailer’s pretty stylish, which is no surprise coming from the same developer that brought us that amazing Wither 2 intro, and it sets the scene nicely for a darker than dark cyberpunk adventure.

There’s no release date other than “when it’s ready”, and no platform information yet, but expect an initial PC release, much like The Witcher, with Xbox and PlayStation to follow, possibly in a next-gen format.
