The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct trailer
Activision’s upcoming Walking Dead: Survival Instinct has a gameplay trailer, and here it is…
Looking not at all dissimilar to a mash-up of Left 4 Dead and Dead Island, Activision’s The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct can be seen in action in this trailer, and sadly, it’s not looking all that good.
Reported to be a possible fan made trailer with real footage, the game itself also looks more like a fan made mod than an expensive, big budget release. And, whilst graphics certainly don’t make a good game, the look and feel in the trailer just don’t hang well with this zombie-slaying fan.
The gameplay itself doesn’t look too bad, being a mixture of all-out melee, tactical avoidance and stealth, which given the subject matter, should make for a decent level of true survival horror, as you conserve ammo and supplies and watch your surrounding for hazards.
However, the combat and take downs demonstrated here lack any sort of weight to them, and the lack of real combat examples or any form of impressive sequences doesn’t instil confidence in the overall quality and impact of the final offering.
It’s early days, of course, and the game is slated for release sometime this year, with no solid window, so there could be a lot of work to do. So, for now, we’ll reserve judgement. Have a look for yourself and see what you think.
