Bungie’s next project, Destiny, has shed some more info, if not exactly as planned…

Following an apparent leak that claimed to reveal new details and shots of ex-Halo developer, Bungie’s next title, the company has decided to fight fire with fire, and has officially released screenshot of the upcoming title, and invited people to take a look at the leaked details.

On the Bungie forums, the developer has posted an official image from the new game, which is called Destiny. It all looks very Killzone, but as it’s a Bungie IP, you can be sure it’ll be something to take note of.

The shot followed a reveal of some artwork and story info from the game, which, if you don’t take the whole thing as sneaky publicity stunt, surfaced before Bungie intended to release it. According to reports, the leaked information was prepared by an advertising agency and looks to have been released into the wild a little early.

A statement from Bungie’s Community Manager, David Dague, read “Go ahead. Take a peek. It's alright. We weren't quite ready, but we will be soon, and we can't wait to finally show you what we've really been up to. Stick around, we haven't even started yet.”

Destiny is penned in as an Activision title and Xbox exclusive for late 2013, and there’s already beta testing shenanigans being planned. The story will take place around seven hundred years from now and sees humanity huddled in the last remaining city on Earth, protected by a strange alien globe from another invading species. Only the ‘Knights’ can hope to save mankind, by exploring the galaxy and doing battle against the alien menace that threatens mankind’s survival.

Sounds very familiar in many ways to a certain circlet-like series, but this time the game will be an MMO-style affair, and so should benefit from the genre switch. More information as we get it.
